InScience was officially opened yesterday by Minister Van Engelshoven of Education, Culture, and Science. In the coming days, more than 60 science films will be on the program, of which 21 films will be shown for the first time in the Netherlands.

During the opening night, Minister Van Engelshoven spoke about the objective of science policy, which aims to strengthen the connection between science and society. Van Engelshoven stated that the goal is to ‘’create more support for science among the public. I think that is of great importance at this time. Fake news is the order of the day and facts often have to take on half-truths and whole lies. This festival uses stories to show us what science means today. Film helps us to understand science. To make that spark jump over to the younger audience and create more support for science.”
